The EMS Section is a recognized sub-group of the Oregon Fire Chiefs Association, with a purpose to promote EMS within the fire service, assist the OFCA on EMS issues and to provide fire based EMS with a voice.
In the spring of 1982, several fire service EMS Coordinators came together to discuss issues of mutual concern facing EMS within Oregon’s fire service. This was the beginning of the Oregon Fire Medical Administrators Association which was later to be called the EMS Section of the Oregon Fire Chiefs Association.
Since 1982 the organization has seen many changes. Its influence has grown to a point where it has become a 'point' organization for EMS information, education and networking.
EMS Section is an active participant in rule making. Its members participate in Statewide EMS committees, and by partnering with other Oregon State EMS Associations and taking matters to the state legislature.
The EMS Section strives to enhance and promote professional standards, develop innovative programs, and provide networking within its members, partner agencies and other state EMS associations. It is through this continued dedication and commitment to values that the EMS Section continues to be a valuable resource for todays EMS Administrator.
